Murky waters is a mixed media series that explores the confusing and distorted reality women face today — a reality heavily influenced by media-driven ideals of “liberation.” While the message of empowerment is widespread, it often masks the truth: women are expected to juggle more roles than ever without receiving greater pay, recognition, or true freedom.

The artworks blend fragmented female figures, oversized eyes, lips, and chaotic organic shapes to symbolize how the media dissects and rewrites women’s identities. The bright, alluring colors contrast with raw, scribbled marks, suggesting the tension between the promises of modern independence and the hidden weight of ongoing societal expectations.

The title Murky waters reflects this unclear, manipulated scenario — a world where the definition of progress is clouded, and where women must navigate layers of contradiction, superficial empowerment, and invisible barriers.
